Annual Fall Adventure: Science Camp at Joshua Tree National Park
Each October, 4th-6th grade students from the Oak classroom embark on an unforgettable journey to the breathtaking Joshua Tree National Park. This three-night trip combines outdoor exploration, hands-on learning, and community building. Students depart on Tuesday and return on Friday, eager to share their discoveries and experiences.
Teachers and parent chaperones lead the group, traveling in a car caravan with all the necessary gear, food, and supplies for the adventure.
Camping: Students learn essential wilderness skills such as setting up tents, cooking meals, and practicing responsible environmental stewardship.
Hands-on Science: Students keep a science journal while exploring geology, botany, and desert ecology, using the park’s diverse landscape as an outdoor classroom.
Hiking & Exploration: Daily hikes provide physical challenges, nature observation, and full immersion in the desert’s beauty.
Visitor Center: A visit to the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center deepens students’ understanding of the unique ecosystem.
Team Games: Group activities and strategy games promote teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of community.
Campfire Evenings: Students gather around the campfire for songs, stories, and stargazing under the famous night sky.
